Slaidburn is a large sunny student home for 5 post graduates with a great south facing garden in the green suburb of Hala (Hala is really close to campus). It has a large sociable sitting room/diner with lots of light and colour. The kitchen is big with loads of storage space and lots of worktop plus the usual essentials : cooker, oven, dishwasher, fridges, freezer, microwave and a huge picture window - on a clear day it allows you to see the sea. You get to see the most glorious sunsets from the back of this house too. There is a downstairs shower room and a utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Each bedroom has a comfy good quality double bed with a wardrobe, desk, chair, lamp, radiator and large double glazed window.
Lots of students say they want to be close to campus, have value-for-money but also good quality accomodation which is accredited by the University itself and the chance to live in a home-like environment. This house ticks all of those boxes, plus you get a landlady who cares. All contracts are on an individual basis.
In the garden you can pick rhubarb, raspberries, apples, marjoram, sage, bay, mint and fennel. It has a large lawn and two patios and it gets full sun in the summer. The garden has a mini wildlife area. If you have a car then you can freely park on the street outside the house.
There is a bus stop about 4 minutes walk from the house. You can walk to University quite easily in about 30 minutes or you can cycle to it in 10 minutes. Getting to Lancaster city centre will take the same amount of time. Local shops - Booth's, Bargain Booze - are about 7 minutes walk away from the house.

2023: Andrea - My experience in the house on Slaidburn drive was enjoyable. First of all, the location is excellent, halfway between the university and the city centre, which makes it possible to get around either on foot, through the countryside, or by public transport. The house is very quiet, and the garden is a big plus, especially during spring/summer.
Weiling - Having lived at 30 Sladiburn Drive for 3 years, I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Excellent garden and nice rooms made for a great house. I’d highly recommend this house to other post-graduate students.
Hiroko - really enjoyed my stay in Slaidburn house. The landlord Chris and Cengiz, were very kind and maintained the house very well.I could communicate with them very nicely and there was no difficulty at all.The house has everything you need, a beautiful garden and a nature view! There was plenty space in the private room and the common rooms which you should compare with other halls of residence.The location is excellent if you are looking for someplace close to uni but not in the uni. You can walk or cycle to the uni very easily (and it is very beautiful nature walk way too!), I would come back here again the house, and I strongly recommend this house in Slaidburn!
2021: Rhiannon - I loved living at 30 Slaidburn drive, great location to cycle/walk to the uni or into Lancaster along traffic free routes. Also, easy access to the Forest of Bowland to escape the city where there are lovely walks, runs, rides and swims. There are also very regular buses less than 5 mins from the door. The house is functional, well equipped, cosy, comfortable and each room is unique making it feel like a home. The garden was definitely a highlight, perfect for summer bbq’s with friends (faces the sunset!), studying outside in the sun and growing and picking fruit and veg. There’s even a small “wild” area where orchids flower in the spring and summer. Chris and Cengiz are brilliant landlords, always responding extremely quickly to any issues that arose as well as being kind, friendly and caring about everyone living in the house. I’m sorry to leave!
2020: Irene- I loved living at 30 Slaidburn. I had a really group of housemates who became family. The house itself is really well looked after, definitely in the top range of student accomodation. Chris and Cengiz could not be better landlords - they are responsive, kind, and simplify everything about renting. One of the best features of the house is the garden which really comes alive in the spring and is perfect for summer bbqs. Another highlight is the kitchen which treats you to beautiful sunsets through the massive window. Overall, my experience at the house was 10/10. I highly recommend it
2020: Glorianna - I've rented from Chris and Cengiz for 1.5 years and can truly say that I was always satisfied. They've been very reliable, fair, friendly, and helpful - everything you'd want from your landlady/landlord. Some of the things that stood out to me as most positive:
They've always responded very quickly (within a day) to any issues we had around the house and made sure things were fixed as soon as possible.
They tended to the house and garden throughout the year - always letting us know well in advance if they were coming to the house - and continued to provide improvements to the house and garden.
They were also concerned with health & safety and always made sure all safety checks were performed in time.
They made sure we always knew how to reach them and let us know when they went away.
If I'll ever live in Lancaster again, I'd be happy to rent from them again.
2019: Zander - Slaidburn Drive is a wonderful property in a friendly and safe community. Chris and Cengiz are caring and attentive landlords. They are extremely friendly and treat renters more like friends than tenants. I wish all landlords were like them. In the rare instances that any issues arose, they were dealt with within 24 hours. The house is in an ideal location to get to campus (10 min by bike). The garden is a wonderful space to relax in and provides various fruits and vegetables. This is a brilliant place to live and I wish I could carry on doing so.
2019: Ben - Chris has been a fantastic landlady throughout my two year tenancy. Timely responses to urgent problems in the house; problems usually sorted within a day of reporting. Very welcoming and understanding. I would recommend Chris to anyone looking to rent.
